E3: WEF SYPC Community Outreach Project “Wetlands Replanting”
Please note this event begins on the October the 10th and runs through October the 11th.
WEF’s Students and Young Professionals Committee (SYPC) will host a community service project to replant and revitalize part of the wetlands at the Orange County Utilities Northwest Water Reclamation Facility. An anticipated group of 100 will spend the day harvesting plants from an established part of the wetlands and replanting them in other areas. The students and young professionals will learn about the wetland treatment system and how wetlands are used to further remove nutrients from the reclaimed water prior to recharging the sensitive aquifer system by participating in this hands environmental project. The facility is located 30 miles from the convention center. Bus transportation will be provided for those who register for this event. Two buses will leave from the convention center at 8:00 and 12:00 noon and arrive back at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm.
