W211 Sustainable Solutions for Utilities to Address Carbon Footprint and Resource Recovery

Track: Sustainability/Energy Conservation/International Issues
When: Sunday, October 11, 2009, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Where: Orange County Convention Center, Room 304C, Level 3
The wastewater industry is looking for innovative solutions to improve their triple bottom line. Under constraints of strict nutrient removal regulations and depleting natural resources, utilities need to evaluate their decisions from an energy, resource conservation and carbon footprint perspective. This workshop is designed to help utilities, engineering professionals and researchers understand applications and tools for quantifying the benefits of implementing sustainable solutions. The workshop will focus on
  • The conflict between legislating stricter nutrient removal and cap on carbon emissions
  • Resource Recovery from WWTPs.
  • Tools to quantify GHG reductions. (Hands on training on spreadsheet analysis for carbon footprinting)

The workshop is designed as a platform to share real world applications and current research focused on sustainable solutions for the wastewater industry.
