This workshop will discuss the fundamental principles of utility capital financing and review recent developments and restructuring in capital markets. The program is designed to help attendees better develop strategies for capital financing under changing market conditions, with specific attention to:
  • How rating agencies evaluate utilities
  • Changing options for financing capital improvement projects
  • Strategies to mitigate adverse impacts on utility ratepayers
  • Approaches to securing approval of capital financing
  • Lessons learned from case studies

Workshop presenters will be drawn from the municipal credit market, financial advising community, and utility finance organizations. The workshop will be highly interactive with facilitated discussions and exercises and ample opportunities for participants to review the challenges facing their utilities and discuss alternative approaches.
