“Aeration 101” will provide design personnel, operational staff, utility administrators, and students with the theoretical and practical fundamentals needed to effectively evaluate and select aeration systems. The workshop will meet the needs of a wide spectrum of professionals who will benefit from developing or enhancing their understanding of:
Fundamental principles of aeration, from oxygen transfer rates, to computing oxygen requirements, to blower building layouts
The importance in the design, operation, and maintenance of aeration systems to optimize both plant performance and plant economics
The significance of aeration systems including to the carbon footprint of wastewater systems
Through exercises, participants will practice determining secondary treatment system oxygen requirements and blower sizing. They will have the opportunity for hands-on review of aeration equipment during breaks. A faculty with extensive knowledge in the fundamental principles, design, and operation of aeration systems provide additional benefits for attendees.
