W114 Strategic Planning, Asset Management and Performance Measurement: Achieving the Ten Attributes Track: Utility Management When: Saturday, October 10, 2009, 8:30am - 5:00pm Where: Orange County Convention Center, Room 304A, Level 3 This workshop will demonstrate how utilities (large and small) can become effectively managed using well-documented tools. Utilities that have effectively utilized strategic planning, performance measurement, asset management principles, and in some cases established environmental management systems will be featured. Exercises will move participants through an abbreviated strategic planning process that includes an exercise to assign measures to strategic goals, an exercise to align asset management decisions with the strategic goals, and an exercise that demonstrates the principles of continuous improvement through the use of an environmental management system (EMS). Participants will leave the workshop with an approach that can help them integrate the strategic planning process with performance measurement, asset management, and an EMS and move their organization along the path to achieving the Ten Attributes of Effectively Managed Water Sector Utilities.
