W112 Groundwater Recharge and Reuse: Modeling Flow and Contaminant Transport

Track: Watershed Issues: Surface Water Quality & Ecology/Stormwater/Groundwater ; GIS & Computer Applications, Instrumentation & Automation
When: Saturday, October 10, 2009, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Where: Orange County Convention Center, Room 311H, Level 3
This workshop will provide a comprehensive review of groundwater flow and pollutant transport fundamentals and cover the most up-to-date information on groundwater recharge and reuse, including impacts of local groundwater characteristics and economic, political, environmental, and legal aspects. It will also present the latest information on the occurrence of microconstitutents in groundwater, based on recent U.S. Geological Survey findings. The workshop will:
  • Review groundwater flow and pollutant transport fundamentals
  • Identify appropriate models and modeling approaches for groundwater, including coupling GIS to such modeling
  • Increase understanding of the possible impacts and economic, political, environmental, and legal aspects of groundwater artificial recharge and subsequent reuse
  • Discuss the latest information on the occurrence of microconstitutents in groundwater
