W107 WEF/WERF Stormwater and Wet Weather: Approaches and Tools for Achieving Compliance
This workshop will focus on watershed approaches, including the scientific and engineering considerations, for controlling storm water and other wet weather sources. The program is a must-attend event for insights to the identification of appropriate management programs to accelerate implementation of cost-effective controls and achievement of Clean Water Act goals. It will provide an understanding of current regulatory requirements, environmental impacts, and the regulatory flexibility available to address wet weather impacts. Specifically, attendees will learn the:
Impacts of wet weather flows on receiving waters and municipal collection systems
Regulatory requirements, including the overlapping elements that can be addressed together
Environmental impacts and related regulatory considerations, as well as the flexibility within the regulatory structure that can accelerate the implementation process
Mathematical and regulatory/policy frameworks for successful implementation of watershed-based permitting
During a problem-solving session, attendees will work on current real-world issues facing municipalities that will have to meet the regulatory requirements in the form of Phase II, Long-Term Control Planning, or the TMDL programs.
