For most wastewater utilities, energy use is second only to labor as the largest component of operating costs. Energy use is also highly scrutinized because of sustainability considerations. This workshop will provide practical information from the United States and Europe about how to reduce energy consumption at wastewater facilities. Key concepts attendees will learn include:
Understanding emerging concepts of biological treatment processes such as enhanced nutrient removal, and how biotechnology can help reduce electrical consumption
Garnering insights from electricity bills
Improving energy efficiency of wastewater treatment processes using new control strategies
International perspective regarding energy efficiency
Presentations, case studies, and small group problem-solving sessions will be used to ensure an effective learning experience.
Special Note: Attendees will receive a coupon for a 25% discount on the soon-to-be released 2nd edition of WEF’s Manual of Practice (MOP) FD-2, Energy Conservation in Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
