W102 Using Calibrated Models in Treatment Plant Design

Track: GIS & Computer Applications, Instrumentation & Automation ; Facility Operations
When: Saturday, October 10, 2009, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Where: Orange County Convention Center, Room 304F, Level 3
This intermediate modeling workshop will cover current resources and provide practical insights into the use of models to investigate real process problems. Participants will learn key concepts fundamental to successfully applying models for problem solving and design applications, including:
  • What resources are available for training and reference
  • How to approach the interpretation of model output
  • How model output can be used to calculate design numbers
  • When and how the model can be used to minimize safety factors

Working in small groups during an intensive hands-on session, participants will solve a design-related problem using a previously calibrated model of the full-scale facility under study. Expert facilitators will help each group work with the supplied model to apply the concepts and arrive at a design solution.
Special Note: Attendees receive a 25% discount on WEF’s new Manual of Practice, An Introduction to Process Modeling for Designers (MOP 31).
